Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my order take
Simples ! Never rush a craftsman, anticipate 3 weeks. Virtually every product I sell is either bespoke and made to order, or is in stock but only part made (ie) a flat stamping or a rough casting. I never finish a bespoke ring till it has first been sized to customers finger size as this produces a better end result. Only then is it ready to be engraved and that is done prior to polishing, a laser engraved crest or coat of arms ring is approximately a days work from casting , drawing, finishing, engraving to polished. I seldom produce more than 4 rings per week.
NEED IT SOONER please call me on the telephone "have a chat"
Red and White Gold cast rings take longer than Die Stampings !
How do i choose the correct head size
One mans meat is another mans poison, I can do my best to advise you but even I get it wrong. I often get a lady who orders a 16 x 13 for her pinky finger and loves it, but when I get a man ordering a 11 x 9mm I will nearly always queery it, seems a bad match.
In general most ladies will order 11mm x 9mm or 12mm x 10mm occasionally 13mm x 11mm or 14mm x 12mm
Men seldom require smaller than 14 x 12mm the most popular size for a pinky finger, but I sell 6 off 16 x 13 to every 14 x 12 because bigger ring = better size for engraving a coat of arms or crest etc. More
Order bronze samples & be sure
I keep a large stock of bronze samples, if you are unsure of the head size you require for a refundable deposit of £120.00. These will be sent out in a selection of head sizes and finger sizes for you to try on, if I have a stock sample with a similar engraving to your order I will include that to give you an idea of the engraving quality.
On return the £120.00 will become a deposit against your order.
They are DEEPLY ENGRAVED inside BRONZE & head & finger size
Do you supply a money back guarrantee ?
Sorry , no I do not bespoke items do not have to comply with D S R Distance selling rules, in the unlikely event you are dissatisfied with your order (so far I have had 2 returns in 7 years) please contact me first by email, so we can arrange a replacement , re make your order, provide your telephone number and suitable time for me to call you.
I am sure we can always mutually resolve any issue !
Please can i come to your shop to order or collect
I do not have a shop anymore, I do not work regular hours, and I do NOT entertain any clients at my premises, it takes total concentration making and engraving each order, I have ONE very firm rule I apply at all times, the customers order I am working on now takes priority over future clients orders, the same will apply to yours. I often ignore the telephones, seldom look at emails once I am in the workshop I definitely am not going to stop work and answer the door ! When I had my shop it cost £900.00 per week, this was proportionately added to the selling price of every order.
Need It Urgently ?
If you need your order urgently, please telephone or email me with the date you require your order to be delivered by, usually with silver items this is easily arranged as i have a large range of HALLMARKED stock part made ready to be engraved.
9ct and 18ct gold orders may have to include an additional charge to allow for urgent hallmarking by London assay Office, or I may decide to use a die stamped signet ring which arrive already hallmarked but generally cost Appx £100.00 more than my standard ranges most of which is V A T .
I am getting bored of customers telling me they ordered Elsewhere and had to send it back
Other suppliers who sell thinner lighter weight rings, who are willing to size dramatically bigger and smaller generally only sell one style either contemporary OR classic & seldom stock court shape will charge you twice as much per gram & offer a money back guarantee, so if you want it quicker and cheaper there are plenty of other suppliers out there & I have no desire to sell or make similar , mine are better value for money !
